WHAT IS RAINWATER HARVESTING?

Rainwater can sustain us and the planet. Please help save and turn rainwater into clean water for communities that need it desperately.

The diminishing supply of fresh water in wells and aquifers, a lack of infrastructure for clean water delivery, climate change concerns, and population growth are among the top reasons for the resurgence of rainwater harvesting systems. Rainwater Harvesting Foundation was created to educate and deliver sustainable rainwater harvesting systems to hospitals, schools, and homes in poor communities throughout the United States, Africa, and the world.

THE GENDER IMPACT OF THE WATER CRISIS

The scarcity of water disproportionately affects women, with 80% of households lacking access to safe water relying on women and girls to fetch water each day. This responsibility diverts their time from essential activities such as work and education, perpetuating a cycle of poverty.

Moreover, inadequate water availability in health centers contributes to up to eight percent of global maternal deaths during childbirth. Surviving women and their newborns often suffer from infections due to the absence of safe water.

Promoting the presence of safe water and sanitation establishes a more secure environment for women. The Rainwater Harvesting Foundation is dedicated to its mission of educating, training, and implementing rainwater catchment systems in hospitals, schools, and homes, thereby striving to alleviate this gender-specific issue.
